Misty Hyman was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. graduating from Shadow Mountain High School in 1997 where she has been the head swim coach since the 2009/2010 school year. Misty graduated from Stanford University with a major in International Relations and is currently completing her MBA in Finance and Hotel Management from Les Roches University in Switzerland. She has completed her coursework overseas and is now residing in Phoenix while working on her thesis.

Misty swam for Arizona Desert Fox under Coach Bob Gillett and enjoys giving swim clinics and sharing her experiences and expertise with up and coming swimmers.

Year-Round Coaches

Matthew Hill graduated from Shadow Mountain High School in 2007 then moved to Brazil for two-years where he served a mission for his church. He is currently studying Business Communications and Marketing at Rio Salado College. He began swimming at Roadrunner when he was eight years old; since then he swam for various teams including; the Anthem Dolphins USS Team and Shadow Mountain High School. Matthew began coaching and teaching swim when he was fifteen years old. He lives by the saying, that if something is worth spending your time on, it is worth seeking to excel. He has a passion for swimming, coaching, and helping others do their best.

Matthew Muchna - Matt is a senior level Sociology Major at Grand Canyon University. He is involved with both student government, as the Multicultural Director, and he is a member of the GCU Cross Country team. He has been swimming competitively for 13 years, starting on a summer team in Mississippi at age 7, through 2 years of collegiate competition for GCU. Matt began instructing swimming at Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ in 2006. He likes coaching to see improvement and to be able to establish good swimming habits that will benefit kids in their future careers. Along with a life filled with swimming, Matt has gotten the opportunity to travel and study different cultures. He enjoys people, story telling, and a friendly game of ping-pong.

Summer Coaches

 

Audrey Lewter has been a Melrose member and a competitor on the Melrose Makos swim team since she was 8 years old. She was Team Captain for the SMHS Swim Team her Senior year, has been an Assistant Coach for Melrose the past three seasons, as well as volunteering as a Junior coach prior to that. She has graduated from Shadow Mountain High and is finishing up her freshman year at the University of Arizona. In addition to coaching, she enjoys teaching swim and stroke lessons.

 

 

Jordan S. Wagner is currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University with a major in Psychology. He is new to Melrose with over 10 years competative swim experience with the last four years as a swim instructor and coach. Jordon began swim instruction at the YMCA in Waynesboro, PA in 2006, and transitioned to coaching the Lagartos swim team at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center with his relocation to Arizona.
